In the beginning, she has focused on school safety concerns, addiction infrastructure, trade, and addiction. In her role, Schlapp has not been in touch with reporters. It was in March that she gained a sudden burst media attention when it became it was reported that she would be a potential candidate to take over Hope Hicks's position as director of communication. It was a tense battle. Schlapp's allies began fighting with Tony Sayegh in the press. After The Washington Examiner published a negative report on Sayegh Schlapp said she called him to have a heart to heart.
